The whole world is talking about Slumdog Millionaire and I have been dying to watch it.......so when the movie FINALLY got released in India,me and my hubby went to watch it yesterday
The movie is beautifully directed...I don't understand why was the movie criticized in India? Why are we running away from reality....what was shown in the movie was bare facts, there was no exaggeration...there are thousands of slums flourishing in Mumbai and other parts of India...why don't we do something about it...to be honest,it was through this movie I realized that so many amongst us are so badly deprived of basic needs...even I watch beggars in the traffic signal and I wonder to myself what kind of life do they live....thanks to Danny Boyle, he showed us their life...I felt very very sad.....No-one wants to beg in streets and I am sure no-one takes it by choice, we look at beggars and if some-one pays them we criticize them and say,"you should not encourage such stuff".'Never did I realize that there are people controlling even beggars.....whats the solution for this?I wonder how many NGOs are genuine in India?!!!
Hats off to Danny Boyle,he has done a great part of research on the life inside slums....unlike us,how many of us have actually gone inside a slum.....I have not!
I am a simple middle class person but I feel that instead of saying things that why are slums being promoted through media in western world,why don't we accept what is real India and do something about it. No point blaming the government, after all its we who choose the government and then we itself blame. High time we stop this blame game...
I feel Education is the solution......I have already started working on it, I have sponsored education for a child I know....because I don't want him to be another Jamal/Salim/Latika/Kasab.......I am sure if Kasab was educated, he would have never taken such a wrong step, I sincerely feel if every middle and upper class family in India sponsors education for one child it will make a difference....but the difference will be made by not paying to some x,y,z NGO/institution but we should personally know the child and sponsor him/her
We waste so much money in Mc Donalds,Coffee Day...I am not saying not to,but those who have a good life, please shell out a small percent of your package for one child outside your family and I am sure India would shine some day.....To be honest I do not see India shining now
